Movie Review - Dangerous Minds
This
movie tells about a woman, who actually had no intention to become a teacher, she
is Ms. Johnson. She has the diverse educational and life background, including
when she dropped out when she was in the final semester and will be certified
to be a teacher. One day she intends to apply for a job at a high school and
just do interviews, but apparently because the school is in desperate need a
teacher, she immediately appointed as a teacher in an academic class with
significant salary.
For the first day and somedays she got some terrible from the students. The students are mostly black skin and have same condition that is low economy and marginal. They are very harsh and tough, but actually they are very smart and intelligent students. Ms. Jhonson tried to hold out in that school with many ways. She learns how to handle the students with those conditions and it was really hard for her. For somedays the students could not accept her as their teacher. At that time she would not give up, she thinks that this is challenging and interesting. She tried to adapt her life with her students by using some ways to make her students give attention and interest with her. A reward is one of her ways that really made students very interested. Besides, she also gives the material that appropriate with the students’ level and condition. She does not only give knowledge about the material that should be in the classroom, but also knowledge about their life. After she get the attention from the students, another problem is coming. The problem comes from the school side that disagrees with her ways to teach the students, but she does not care about that. The most important for her is she teaches them and it runs well. Finally, all the students accept her as their students, even when she decided to move from the school they were really disagree and hold out her to teach them

Movie Review - Ron Clark Story

The Ron Clark Story is a very interesting movie. It tells about many
interesting fact about being a teacher who teach in the slum area of the big
city. It was full of problems that come from the society around the school and
also the family of the students itself. In facing those problems, even Ron
himself got a difficult time in solving so many problems that bind their
students and school. But due to his personal attitude, his professionalism as a
teacher, and his contribution to the society around him, Ron can surpasses the
problems with his hard will and support from the society. According to that
point we see a professional teacher is not only a teacher who focus on the
teaching the students inside the classroom, but also focus on keeping his attitude
toward himself and the public in order to be a public role model that can give
education and construct the development of the society outside the classroom.
As an individual, we see Ron as a good person. He
shows a good manner to everyone in his surroundings which cause him to have
many good friends in everywhere he stays. This is shown back when he received a
gift from his old school, which is actually a parking sign. Although maybe he felt shocked when he saw
the gift, but he shows a good response in order to respect them. Besides that,he
also has good will to help each other by giving his attention when someone in
trouble. His patience and persistence in solving problems also shows a good
example as we know that in every life there are many challenges that can make us
down. But if we are patient and keep persistent in finding the way to solve it,
the way will eventually come at the right time.
In doing his duty, Ron sets a good role model as a
professional teacher. The first thing that we really amazed with is his attitude
of showing his care to his students. He does everything he can in order to
shape his students to be a better learner than before. He spent his out-class
time to serve the students by giving extra study time to his students, and
giving lecture even when he is sick. In our opinion, it is very hard to find a
teacher that cares that much to his/her students. As a professional teacher, he
never brings his personal problems to the class. When he is in the class, he
never talk about his problems, but he focuses on how the good learning system
can be conducted in the class.
In conclusion, we infer that being a professional
teacher is not only being a man that can only speak in front of the class. To
be a professional teacher, teacher candidate also have to master some skills,
such as being a patient in facing students and the problems in his life, persistent
and creative in solving many problems especially in the classroom, be nice to
the communities, and keep humble to everyone even when he reach the top.
